Residents should be aware of a proposal to expand the local school, in effect doubling capacity to 400 children. Please see the attached letter sent to local residents. A meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday 6th December at 7pm.

Dear All
Forgive me I have no contact names, I have recently moved into Corners, Keston Avenue, And was at the school meeting last night. I would like to offer some input
regarding the Councils decision to expand Keston School.
In particular to planning requirements.
My Mobile xxxxxxxxxx
Thank you
How on dearth is this small Village going to cope with any more School Traffic than we are already desperately trying to cope with twice a day. The 4 by 4 are already roaring up and down Commonside and Baston Road every morning and afternoon in Term time. Boys walking to Ravenswood School ,who live in the village, are forced to jump
Into the bushes by Keston school parents bombing up and down Commonside at high
Speeds. In my opinion it is only amateur of time before a child will be seriously injured or killed on Commonside . If this expansion goes ahead it will be catastrophic for this small village. What ever happened to the Conversation area? Cars are already double parked in Greys Park Close , Fox Lane, Leafy Grove ,Keston Gardens etc, etc, whilst the yummy mummies chew the fat outside the school gates for half an hour. No respect is shown for owners drive ways or grass verges.. say goodbye to Keston Village as we know it,
Will the Council being conducting a Risk Assessment?
During the mornings and afternoons, Lakes Road gets so congested with cars that the residents cannot leave or return to their homes with ease. Parents park across my drive every morning and afternoon without fail – totally blocking me from getting in or out of my drive. most stay in their car so I can at least ask them to move, but I often get told to “f*ck off” and shouted out. The behavior from the parents is becoming increasingly more hostile and abusive. Sometimes they even leave their car so there is no-one to ask to move it. My partner works from home and has often been late meeting clients because he has had to wait for parents to return to their car. I have had the police involved on a couple of occasions. My biggest concern is that an ambulance cannot get to my house (my son suffers with potentially life-threatening seizures). Even the Dial-A-Ride minibus for the elderly cannot get down Lakes Road and has to park on the main road. The emergency services cannot get access to Lakes Road when it is congested with parents cars – this is already a serious problem and will only be even more of a hazard if the school size is increased. Parents are parking on the pavements, peoples drives, and the zig-zags. I have even seen children getting out of cars while they are still moving along! I have photos and videos of people parked across my drive should you want them. This planning application must not be granted permission – it is too dangerous already!
